When it comes to measuring the size of a city in inhabitants it becomes quite obvious that there isn’t just one way but several. Sometimes only the city within its administrative borders is taken into consideration. This method is especially flawed where the administration of a city hasn’t grown with the actual expansion. The most famous example in Europe might be Paris. The following map shows cities based on their built-up urban areas.
